Jean Sibelius and the Day of Finnishness

On 12th of May 1903 Finnish composer Jean Sibelius visited Estonia for the first time. He was on his first Baltic concert tour during which he conducted, among other works, his First Symphony. The very same date, 12th of May, is also a special day for Finns, a day to celebrate being Finnish.

The Finnish Institute is simultaneously celebrating the day and the composer with the chanche to hear something specific about his music and to see the first fictional film about Sibelius by Timo Koivusalo (release date in Finland: 12th of September 2003).
